Rock Climbing Club!
After school, on Thursdays, Haute Vallee School has put on a super fun Rock Climbing Club for Year 7 students. Every week, there is a new sign-up sheet which is put outside the PE Office.
In rock climbing, we use safe, proper rock climbing walls, with a variety of grips and difficulty. I personally enjoy climbing the wall with larger grips because I find it easier to hold onto. I feel that Kaz has taught us so much and given us fully detailed tutorials on how to rock climb and to do belaying. Belaying is a technique used that helps you to pull the person climbing!
When we rock climb in groups of 3 people. One person is climbing, attached safely to the rope. One person is pulling them up with the rope attached to them so if they let go, nothing will happen. One person is backing up so if the belaying goes wrong or the person belaying forgot how to do it, back up is always holding the rope.
I enjoy rock climbing so much! I’m so grateful to go to school to have such fun and free opportunities! I feel very steady, safe and amazed by rock climbing, I am so happy I get opportunities like this at our school!
