World Ocean Day

Haute Vallee Students support World Ocean Day

Haute Vallee students have been educated on the dangers of ocean pollution through powerful form time assemblies.

Students dug deeper into the knowledge of how much pollution can affect marine wildlife. We learned how 12 million tons of plastic finds its way into the ocean every single year.

9.5 million tons of this rubbish enters the ocean from the land with 1.75 tons being thrown into the sea directly from fishing and the shipping industry.  This causes a major threat to the inhabitants of marine wildlife. Animals are threatened with extinction because of our wrongdoing.

With that being said, we need to protect our sea creatures, people need to recycle their plastic products to become more environmentally friendly.  We need to think about our planet carefully because it is all we have at the end of the day.

The assembly was amazing and really brought to light all the important factors that hinder our oceans which can have a negative impact on animals and people.
