La Hougue Bie Visit
Year 7 went on a tour to La Hougue Bie. We learnt about the Stone Age and the three stages: Mesolithic, Paleolithic and the Neolithic periods. We also learnt about the religion and how they worshiped the Sun God and Mother Earth for good farming seasons in the Neolithic era.
There was also a Passage Grave in the mound which was built with stones from across Jersey, eg St John, Grouville etc. We explored the passage grave.
The Passage Grave was also used to place deceased bodies inside the main chamber, they also took them out after the ceremonies.
We enjoyed visiting the site and using the similar artifacts the stone age people would have used. We also enjoyed the scavenger hunt that was based on historical information which was informative.
